My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our lunch at Market Street Cafe. We were in town for Memorial Day Weekend staying at Shawnee Lodge. The servers were attentive and accommodating. It was hard to decide what to order as the menu selection was great. I opted for the half panini half salad combo and got the chicken apricot sandwich with the raspberry romaine salad- hold the onions, add blue cheese. My boyfriend had the Boneyfiddle Club panini and enjoyed it. Both came with plenty of chips and a pickle spear. I wish more restaurants had this kind of menu and vibe! Fresh options that are unique flavor combinations. There are plenty of tables and outdoor sidewalk tables with full service. I'd recommend Market Street Cafe!

Always good food. Always good service. We love that they often hire local college kids, that have weird schedules. This is a great local business!

Amazing little Cafe right in the heart of Market St. The bakery goods are out of this world, and has a taste that resembles that of my old German relatives who made stollen. The Reuben sandwiches are very reasonably priced, and very thick and full. Pricing extremely fair for the amount you get. Such a cute little town and we will be back!

This place was packed at lunch time. They had a man singing and playing the guitar. I would probably give this place a 5, but the entry is kind of confusing and not real welcoming. There was someone picking up orders and people waiting for their orders. The business has a sign that says wait to be seated in the interior doorway but when you stand there, no one says anything to you despite there being about 7 people behind counter and in and out of it. They all look at you like "what are you doing?" Once you get seated, it was fine. The wait staff seemed new and not over friendly but not rude either. We got wraps and they were delicious, the side of fruit was pineapple, srrawberries, and grapes. My turkey wrap was cold but the other one was warm. Tbey were both very good. I don't know if they take credit cards bc the bill said cash total so I just paid cash. They have coffees and smoothies and cookies. They have soup. I definitely would go back.

SEVEN WORDS: Quaint and Rustic / Paninis as Comfort Food. . Market Street Cafe does not have a ton of Curb Appeal, even considering the fact it is located in downtown Portsmouth. A Large Picture Window is plainly painted with the words "Market Street Cafe" in a dull mustard yellow. The French Doors that's mark the entrance wear an equally dull coat reddish-brown. If not for Portsmouth itself, most customers would probably look elsewhere. . This would be a big mistake. . Once you get inside, MSC is as inviting as any cafe you'd find in a larger city. A standard deli counter faces the entrance; off to the right is the.entrance to the main dining room. Padded booths line the far wall. A row of linen-topped tables sits just in front of them, with a small and eclectic collection of two and three-tops makes up the remaining seating arrangements. Overall, its cozy: bistro-esque. . The menu is a two-sided, laminated one-shot affair, complete with an ample selection of salads, sandwiches, and desserts. I chose the Reuben Panini, which tasted as expected, but the Panini's Pumpernickel brioche added a crisper bite that helped elevate the Reuben above ordinary. This was the case for all the sandwices. Mom ordered a Turkey and Swiss and she enjoyed the wheat brioche the most. . My wife ordered a Turkey and Rice Noodle wrap.; she found the tomato-basil soft tortilla very tasty. However, she really loved its ingredients: soft rice noodles paired with tender roast turkey. A zesty vinaigrette and soft cheese made the wrap complete. I took a bite and thought it was masterfully prepared, What's more, out total bill, including three entrees, with chips and a drink, came to $24. That's a rare value, no matter where you go; for three sit-down meals with agreat taste, this is a very decent find. Even though I posted only 4-stars, that was due to minor taste and outdoor decor (the wo front facade) issues. Still, I would recommend Market Streetto to anyone wanting a quick bite at a good price.
